American Long Drop Schoolhouse Clock
A well-known and collected American antique timepiece is the schoolhouse clock. This wonderful example features an oak case with moldings forming the octagonal top and long drop. The drop is flanked by carved pieces and has a hinged glass door fitted with glass to access and observe the large brass pendulum. Keeping the time within is an eight-day mechanical movement that strikes the hour and half-hour. Beneath a hinged glass door, the time displays on the large painted metal dial with Roman numerals and spade and whip hands. This fine American schoolhouse clock was crafted by The Ansonia Clock Company of Connecticut and New York. It bears a complete restoration and a one-year warranty.
