English Regency Bracket Clock

This beautiful mantel clock is a wonderful example of English clockmaking in the Regency era. A sophisticated and elegant presentation, the case is fashioned with a smooth arched top of richly grained Honduran mahogany that exudes a warm reddish-brown color and luster. Embellished with subtle brass and ebony inlays, and fitted with pierced brass side frets and lion’s head carrying handles. Raised overall on brass ball feet.

Keeping the time within is an 8 day double-fusée movment that marks the hour and half-hour with a clear bell strike. The time displays on a slightly convex handpainted iron dial with Roman numerals and appointed with brass spade and whip hands. The dial and the movement’s backplate are signed Barrauds, Cornhill London. Additionally, the backplate and pendulum are finely engraved with very nice decorative details, mostly swag and tassel. Barrauds represents an esteemed family of fine English clockmakers, particularly Paul Philip Barraud who served a term as Master of the Clockmakers.

This classic Empire era clock also bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
