French Elaborate Carriage Clock with Pierced and Engraved Mask
This exquisite carriage clock presents in an elaborate gilt cast brass case with floral and foliate embellishment throughout. Fitted with beveled glass panels on all sides including an aperature viewing panel atop. Powering the clock within is an 8-day jeweled balance wheel movement announcing the hour and half-hour on a tuned gong. Also with alarm and repeat-at-will capabilities.
Blued steel trident hands point to the time on a porcelain dial with hand-painted Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute numerals and markers. The smaller alarm dial is situated beneath. Both reside within a wonderful pierced and engraved dial mask contrasted beautifully by a red ground, a lovely work depicting birds and sprawling foliates.
