French Figural Mantel Clock “Cupid’s Kiss Reviving Psyche”
This dramatic French bronze mantel clock portrays mythological characters Cupid and Psyche. It is patterned after Italian artist Antonio Canova’s sculpture “Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss”. In the story, Cupid, an immortal, has a love affair with Psyche, a human. They faced many obstacles throughout their courtship. But in the end, love conquered all.
The sculpture has a fine patina. It also sits on an Italian marble plinth. Finally, an engraving reads M Dejoie Poitiers a la Gerbe D’Or.
The clock has a painted floral white enamel dial with arabic numerals. The restored eight day movement strikes on the hour and half hour and has a one year warranty.
