Austrian Musical Painting Clock
This beautiful Austrian oil on tin depicts an 18th Century royal court scene. A functioning clock is cleverly integrated in the room decor painted as a cartel clock, and there is also a hidden music box. A delightful combination of fine art and function.
The painting is well-executed and detailed. An extensive color palette deftly ranges from the bolder, brighter representation of the subjects central and in the foreground to a softer, muted representation of those in the background and surroundings. A closer look reveals the various expressions of those in attendance along with the marvelous details of the garments and decor.
A 3-train mechanical movement powers the clock for 60 hours and announces the quarter-hours with a Grand Sonnerie strike on two gongs. The musical cylinder plays 4 tunes and activates at the hour or can be played at will. The time displays on Roman numerals with spade and whip hands.
This beautiful musical painting clock is perfectly complimented with a gilt frame and also bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
