English Tall Case Clock Signed Beavington of Stourbridge
This charming tall case clock dates to the mid-1800s and is a wonderful example of English clockmaking craftsmanship. The clock case features a stunning combination of richly grained tiger oak and Honduran mahogany, crowned with an elegant swan neck pediment.
A 13-inch hand-painted iron dial displays the time on black Arabic numerals upon a golden-colored chapter ring. This practice was commonly applied to country clocks to provide the look of a gilt or brass chapter ring, enhancing its unique charm. The dial arch showcases a charming polychrome oil painting depicting an idyllic countryside scene with a man, a woman, and their dog. This clock is signed by the maker Beavington of Stourbridge, affirming its location. Its 8-day weight-driven movement reliably strikes the hours on a bell, accompanied by a calendar and seconds dial for additional functionality.
This clock bears a complete restoration and a one-year warranty.
