French Gilt Bronze and Marble Fountain
This enchanting French mechanical fountain artfully depicts a courting couple. The figures are crafted in opulent gilt bronze and rest upon a base of rich pink marble. A damsel elegantly sits perched atop a well, gown flowing down the sides of the wall. At her side, a courting gentleman gazes longing up at her. A key wound clockwork mechanism activates a pump which draws water into the center of the base and flows out two delicate spouts into basins on either side.
