French Time and Weather Wall Clock by Japy Freres
A finely carved walnut time and weather clock by esteemed Japy Freres clockmakers. Swiss-trained Frederic Japy established his watch and clockmaking business in France in the late 170o’s, and eventually handed the company down to his three sons when it became Japy Freres. The Japy name is synonymous with high quality and mechanical innovation.
The walnut case of this beautiful wall clock is expertly crafted and embellished with a curved broken pediment crest, lovely foliate carvings, four free-standing reeded columns, and turned finials. Keeping the time within is an eight-day mechanical movement that strikes the hour and half-hour on a tuned rod. The time displays on porcelain Roman numeral cartouche within the conforming wood dial fitted with pierced hands. Beneath the dial, a centigrade thermometer is situated in the center case continuing to an aneroid barometer in French weather terms in the base.
This superb time and weather wall clock also bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
