French Boudoir Clock in White Carrera Marble and Ormolu
A wonderfully decorative French boudoir clock within a white Carrera marble case. Beautiful gilt ormolu in musical motifs adorn the case front and sides, while gilt barley twist columns with flame finials appoint each of the four corners. Further, the case is raised on equally decorative gilt scrolling feet between ornate gilt aprons. A putto playing the flute atop the clock adds a measure of irresistible charm.
An 8-day mechanical movement keeps the time on this lovely timepiece and displays the time on a slightly convex porcelain dial under a conforming glass door. The dial features delicate hand-painted floral garlands, Arabic numerals, and Louis XIV hands. Dating to the late 19th century, this timepiece also bears a full restoration and carries a one-year warranty.
