French Sienna Marble Clock Garniture
A stunning French clock garniture crafted in richly veined Sienna marble. The stylish garniture was made popular by the French as a decorative embellishment to the essential mantel clock. In this case, the central clock is flanked by beautifully formed urns. The clock is surmounted by a dramatic bronze ormolu eagle attacking a snake, and draping floral bronze ormolu swag extends onto the scrolling sides of the case. The accompanying urns are also ornamented with ormolu floral swag and handles. Overall the garniture is raised on a stepped base and nicely accented with bands of contrasting marble.
Within the clock, an eight-day movement keeps the time and marks the hour and half-hour with a crisp bell strike. The time displays on a gold tone dial signed Reims with encircled Arabic numerals and blued steel hands. Further, this clock bears a complete restoration and a one-year warranty.
