American Large Tap Top Hotel Bell by Meriden

A large tap top hotel bell by The Meriden Bronze Company of Connecticut. Further to the silver plating Meriden was well known for, they grew into manufacturing art bronze and brass goods as well. This is a fine example from their hotel or call bell line. Crafted in bronze and brass, it displays architectural and symmetrical elements in the Renaissance Revival style. The tap top mechanism engages the clapper to ring the bell.

Antique call bells are unique decoratives crafted in a variety of bell mechanisms, styles, and motifs.  They are great fun to collect and display, while still very useful for their intended purpose.
