French Boulle Form Mantel Clock in Cast Brass
This wonderful mantel clock exudes the luxury and grace of Rococo style. The beautiful cast brass Boulle form case and supporting base display graceful swirls and acanthus leaf embellishment, and an endearing cupid figure surmounts the top. A lovely hand-painted porcelain landscape is inset to the apron of the clock, while each side of the clock is also inset with painted porcelain panels, one features an elegant young woman in a landscape and the other her courtier.
Keeping the time within is an eight-day mechanical movement, marking the hour and half-hour with a clear bell strike. Displaying the time on a porcelain dial appointed with Roman numerals and fleur-de-lis hands. The dial also harmonizes with the other porcelain panels on the clock and features a darling floating Cupid above a basket of flowers at the center.
The back plate is signed R.H. Halford & Sons, Fenchurch St., London & Paris. And, finally, this lovely timepiece bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
