French Ornate Brass Mantel Clock
This distinguished French mantel clock from the late 19th century is impressively ornate. The gilt brass case is embellished with an urn top flanked by rams heads, laurel roping draping the dial and trimming the base, musical trophy overlays, acanthus leaves, and florals. Further, each side is adorned with a facial image of Pan draped over the side frets. Burnt umber-colored panels on the sides and front lend dramatic contrast to the gilt overlays.
Keeping the time within is an 8-day mechanical movement that marks the hour and half-hour with a clear bell strike. The time displays on an equally ornate dial with beaded surround and fitted with royal blue cartouche Roman numerals and blued steel spade and whip hands.
And finally, this remarkable timepiece bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
