French Double Dial Mantel Regulator by Achille Brocot
A compelling mantel regulator clock by esteemed clock maker and mathematician, Achille Brocot of France. Achille was the “engineer” of the infamous Brocot family of clockmakers. This clock is a fine example of his expertise in mathematics, mechanics, and science.
To begin, a handsome black Belgian marble case houses an 8-day bell strike movement and two dials. The upper hand painted porcelain dial has Roman numerals and Breguet hands. A recessed center allows visibility of the Brocot escapement and jeweled pallets. The bell strikes at the hour and half hour. The lower hand painted porcelain dial features several smaller dials for day, date, and the months with their astrological symbols. Furthermore, the lower dial also features a penny moon phase and Equation of Time indicator. Signed “Achille Brocot” above the calendar dial.
And, finally, this clock has been restored and comes with a one year warranty. A truly brilliant clock with its legendary mechanics and great aesthetic appeal.
