14K Yellow Gold Curb Link Watch Chain or Necklace
This wonderful antique curb link watch chain dates to the turn of the 20th century when pocket watches were the mainstay for telling time. Almost as important as one’s pocket watch was the chain or fob accessory. This example is known as the very popular double Albert. The t-bar is anchored at a center buttonhole, the watch secures at the swivel clasp end, a utility item such as the winding key on the other end, and a fob attaches to the short chain beneath the bar. An elaborate presentation, as it was meant to be. Further, a durable curb link chain crafted of solid 14K yellow gold would also attest to one’s stature.
Today these fabulous jewelry items continue to be very much in vogue utilized for the intended purpose as a watch chain, or stylishly worn as a chic necklace.
