1930s Eska Nickel Silver Chronograph Wrist Watch
This vintage chronograph by Swiss company Eska dates to the 1930s and is a remarkable timepiece that combines functionality with unique design. The watch features an original and rare dial, distinguished by its intricate tachymeter and telemeter scales. The tachymeter, arranged in a spiral in the center of the dial, allows the wearer to measure speed based on travel time over a fixed distance. Surrounding the dial’s perimeter is the telemeter, which measures the distance to an event that is both visible and audible, such as a lightning strike, by calculating the time interval between seeing the flash and hearing the thunder.
The time displays on black Roman numerals with blued steel hands. A subsidiary seconds dial appears on the left, with an accumulation dial for the chronograph on the right. The chronograph controls are located on the right side of the case, with the top button for start, the bottom for stop, and reset within the winding stem.
Powered by a 17-jewel manual wind movement, this chronograph exemplifies precision and craftsmanship. The nickel silver case adds a touch of vintage elegance, enhancing its historical significance.
This watch bears a complete restoration and an 18-month warranty.
