American Art Deco Figural Patinated Spelter Lamp
This lovely figural lamp is from the cherished Art Deco era. Beautifully cast in spelter with a well-executed bronze patination and subtle coloration. When this lamp was crafted, spelter was becoming a favored medium for casting. Not only because the copper needed for bronze was commandeered for munitions, but it produced perfectly formed castings without the hand-chasing bronze castings required. This alluring example depicts a characteristic nude female figure accessorized with a cloche hat and long billowing wrap. She is in a familiar pose of extended leg and arm outstretched to the globe, which also exhibits Art Deco features. A splendid desk or accent lamp, and in wonderful condition. Period pieces of this genre are scarce and enthusiastically collected.
