American Art Nouveau Favrile Glass Basket Form Vase

This exquisite piece of American Favrile glass is presented as a lovely basket form vase and is fitted with a beautiful and decorative brass cradle and handle. Very skillfully blown, dramatically colored, and with a brilliant iridescence. The sleek glasswork is wonderfully accented by an embossed and pierced brass cradle and handle, embellished in the Art Nouveau aesthetic with lovely vining flora and bows.

Favrile glass emerged during the Art Nouveau movement with its mesmerizing iridescence and naturalistic forms. Louis Comfort Tiffany is credited for the invention of Favrile glass in the late 1890s. It is created by adding various colored oxides to molten glass resulting in a fascinating array of colors seamlessly blending. Such pieces of glass-making mastery are very desirable and highly collectible.
