American Victor VI 78 RPM Phonograph with Spearpoint Horn
This Victor model VI is a superb example of the American Victor Company’s top phonograph model of the early 1900s. The rich Honduran mahogany case houses Victor’s most advanced and largest spring-wound motor, allowing for more extended playtime and powering the turntable for approximately 15 minutes on a full wind. In addition, the sizable turntable allows the machine to play both 10” or 12” records.
The case features gold-plated trim with carved and gold-accented Corinthian columns at each corner. These embellishments were only available in Victor’s top models and an indication that someone could afford the highest quality phonograph of the day.
Furthermore, this phonograph boasts a beautiful spearpoint wood horn, Victor’s finest and the most expensive horn option of the early 1900s, named for the spear-like points carved into the perimeter. These horns were challenging to produce and are among the rarest and most desirable models to acquire today.
This phonograph bears a complete restoration and a one-year warranty.
