Cameo Ring with Dark Stone on Camphor Glass
This unusual cameo ring features a dark stone cameo of a lovely classical woman in profile. Carved in deep relief on a contrasting camphor glass background, the cameo rests in an elaborately fashioned filagree setting of 14K white gold. The setting is further enhanced with colorfully enameled corners alternating with seed pearls. Artistic consideration of color and contrast imparts intrigue and dimension to this unique ring created and signed by White Mfg Co. Currently a size 6, this ring can be resized to suit.
Camphor glass came into use and favor during the Art Deco era and continued in popularity well into the 1940s. Cameos have been favored in jewelry for thousands of years, always finding their place in myriad fashion trends.
