English 18th Century Triple Case Pocket Watch by Harry Potter of London
This rare English pocket watch consists of a triple, open-face case. The outer case material is called Shagreen, in this case, a type of dyed shark skin. This outer case displays a greenish hue, further embellished with small, round gold appliques. An 18K yellow gold inner case features a distinctive repoussé design. It consists of four figures grouped together. One central figure appears to be administering a blessing to a person who is kneeling. In addition, two other people observe. A third inner case houses the watch movement.
A chain-driven verge fusee movement powers the watch and operates with a key for winding and setting the time. Furthermore, the movement resides within a housing consisting of finely crafted scrollwork. The porcelain watch dial features Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic numerals every five minutes. Finally, the watchmaker’s name, Potter of London, appears on the dial and is also signed on the movement.
Perhaps of coincidental interest, Potter’s first name is Harry. No relation to the popular young wizard.
This watch comes with an 18 month warranty.
