English Burl Walnut Canterbury
A canterbury is typically described as a low, open topped stand with slatted partitions and a drawer on the bottom. Originally designed to hold sheet music, a canterbury also functions as a place to store other items. Liquor decanters or magazines are examples.
This English oval burl walnut canterbury, referred to as a dining room canterbury, features classic design elements such as the slats and bottom drawer. Turned columns support a center tier and an added table top . Four finials complete the tops design. Ornately carved and pierced fretwork braces the center tier. Finally, four small casters support the canterbury.
