English Mahogany Tall Case Clock
A beautiful English tall case clock crafted of rich Honduran mahogany. The bonnet is styled with a swan’s neck pediment terminating in decorative rosettes and appointed with a central brass ball and spire finial along with eagle finials on each side. Two fluted columns with brass capitals support the bonnet and flank the arched glass door. Behind the door, the time displays on a silvered and engraved chapter ring with Roman hour markers, Arabic minute markers, and serpentine hands. The dial center displays subsidiary seconds and month dials as well as decorative scroll engravings. Cast brass spandrels frame the dial nicely. A delightful handpainted moon phase dial is located in the arch.
The waist with arched door inlaid with shell design and string inlays and flanked by two fluted quarter columns with brass capitals. Supported on a base also with string inlay and a central urn motif. Overall raised on bracket feet.
Keeping the time is a weight-driven two-train movement that strikes a bell at the hour and half hour. It is designed to run for eight days.
This lovely tall case clock is a very manageable size and displays beautiful wood grains and patina. Also presenting with a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
