English Pierced and Carved Chinese Chippendale Mahogany Bracket Clock
This elaborate bracket clock is an outstanding example of English clockmaking. Richly colored mahogany comprises the case with intricately carved and pierced detail throughout. The case takes on a dramatic shape evoking the Chinese influences famous during the Chippendale period.
At the clock’s center is an elegant brass and silvered dial displaying the time on engraved Roman numerals with ornate gilt brass spandrels. Three subsidiary dials display the fast-slow adjustment, chime or silent function, and tune selection. Finally, this fantastic case houses a three-train fusee movement that chimes the quarter hours on a nest of eight bells. Certainly designed to impress, this outstanding clock is a marvelous addition to any collection or space.
