French Ebonized Mahogany Bracket Clock by Delettrez
This handsome French bracket clock dates to the mid-19th century. An elegant presentation in an ebonized mahogany case with clean lines and featuring a brass carry handle atop a flat glass-paneled top, above a case with three glass panels, and raised on a plinth base with square pad feet. The ebonized case is complemented by warm mahogany cove moldings and highlighted with gilt painted lines.
Keeping the time within is an 8-day pendulum movement that marks the hour and half-hour with a pleasing gong strike. In this example, the gong is fitted on the rear door. The time displays on an engraved chapter ring of Roman numerals situated within the beautifully engraved brass mask and fitted with Breguet-style hands. Further, this fine clock is signed Delettrez à Paris on the dial and on the works indicative of Jean-Baptiste Delattrez.
This wonderful timepiece bears a full restoration, a one-year warranty, and would make an excellent addition to various decor.
