French Gilt Brass and Porcelain Carriage Clock
This very nice French carriage clock dates to the second half of the 19th century. Presented in a molded gilt brass Gorge case that is beautifully engraved with a foliate motif. Having a beveled glass front, and polychrome enamel panels to the sides and back depicting scenes of a riverside village. The handle also features artistic detail with some twist shaping and engraving. Gorge cases were usually reserved for higher quality clocks due to the skill and detail required.
An eight day movement keeps the time with hammer strike to a coil gong at the hour and half hour. Also, it has a repeat at will feature. A white enamel dial panel features Roman numerals at the hour, Arabic numerals at the minute markers, and blued steel Breguet style hands. This carriage clock has been restored and comes with a one year warranty.
