French Gilt Brass Mantel Clock With Sweep Center Calendar
This wonderful French mantel clock is a beautiful example of fine early clockmaking. Resting in a magnificent gilt brass case, the clock features elaborate pierced castings with elegant Doric columns, garlands, and swags that decorate the clock in artistic adornment. Powering the clock is an 8-day movement with a silk threat suspension striking a bell on the hour and half-hour. The clock face features a classic porcelain dial with Roman numerals to display the time. Notably, a circle of Arabic numerals just underneath the hour markers indicates the days of the month. A curved sweep center hand denotes the calendar.
This remarkable clock bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
