French Mantel Clock in Belgian Black Marble
A splendid French mantel clock dating to the late Victorian period. The case, crafted of finely polished Belgian black marble features a shaped and scrolling pediment and colorful marble inlays. Also beautifully embellished with scrolling carvings incised with gilt and marble accents. An eight day mechanical movement keeps the time and strikes a bell at the hour and half-hour. The black dial displays the time on gilt Arabic numerals with gilt fleur de lis hands. An inset marble center and beaded gilt bezel add further decorative accent. Signed by preeminent retailer J. E. Caldwell & Co. This fine-looking mantle clock bears a full restoration and a one year warranty.
