French Marble and Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock with Winged Angel
This beautiful French clock from the mid to late 1800’s has a commanding presence. The marble case with arched top and stepped base displays an extensive array of gilt bronze ormolu mounts. Featuring a cast winged angel with torch in each hand on the front beveled glass panel. Sphinx, rosettes, and vines comprise some of the other artistic mounts.
An 8-day movement strikes a bell at the hour and half hour while a porcelain dial with Roman numerals and Breguet hands mark the time. A sunburst pendulum is also visible behind the beveled glass panel. Further, the clock is signed L. Marti, Paris. And finally, this very distinctive clock has been fully restored and has a one year warranty.
