French Oversized Arch Top Carriage Clock
This impressive carriage clock is a marvel of French clockmaking. Stately Corinthian columns with acanthus leaf embellishment decorate all four corners of the rich gilt and silvered brass case surrounding the piece in Neoclassical detail. Floral garlands along the bottom and arch-top pediment frame the clock in elegant patterns.
The outstanding artistry continues onto the dial mask with exceptional hand-pierced depictions of griffins and scroll and leaf ornamentation. The clock displays the time on Arabic numerals mounted upon a clean white porcelain dial. Powering the clock is an 8-day hour and half-hour gong strike movement with a repeat-at-will feature. Finally, the impressive movement can be viewed through glass panels and an arched glass dome top.
