French Sterling Silver Repoussé Milk Pitcher
This beautiful full-bodied sterling silver milk pitcher dates to the Victorian Era. Silver serveware was essential at the time among the aristocracy and the aspiring. Displaying very ornamental repoussé detail throughout of scroll, foliate, and floral design. (Repoussé is a method of hammering metal from the reverse side to create a low relief impression.) It also has a heraldic crest and was likely a custom item. Having a large looping handle, flared spout, and raised on a footed base.
