German 15 1/2″ Disc Double-Comb Music Box by Polyphon

This beautiful disc music box was expertly crafted by renowned German manufacturer Polyphon of Leipzig, Germany. Dating to 1890, it was masterfully crafted in a rich walnut case with Art Nouveau floral marquetry on the lid exterior and hand-carved detail throughout. The richness of the walnut grain adds interest and dimension to the artistry of this wonderful musical piece. In addition to the marquetry on the outer lid, the inner lid displays a black-and-white landmark scene under glass.

Residing within are the musical mechanics featuring a double-comb mechanism that produces a beautifully rich and complex sound. A simple winding of the crank on the side of the box powers the mechanism, and a flick of the lever activates the musical magic. This box plays the popular 15 1/2″ discs, which are widely available and interchangeable with Regina discs, and represents some of the broadest disc availability on the market today. In addition to hundreds of antique discs, over 1,000 titles are available on newly produced discs. A selection of six antique discs is included with this music box.

This terrific musical box bears a complete restoration and a one-year warranty.
