German American Unusual Time and Weather Clock
A handsome and moderately-sized wall clock with weather-measuring devices, produced by the Hamburg American Clock Company of Germany. Expertly crafted in a walnut case with very nice proportions. Architectural styling includes an arched pediment top, dentil and curved moldings, turned and reeded half-columns, and turned finials. It bears mentioning that the Hamburg American Clock Co. has a rather interesting history and affiliation with the renowned Junghans clock manufacturer, also of Germany.
An eight-day movement keeps the time, which displays on a two-piece dial comprised of a porcelain chapter ring with hand-painted Roman numerals, and a central gilded dial. The center dial displays the engraved crossed arrows logo for Hamburg American. Contained within the center of the case is a Fahrenheit and Centigrade thermometer on an engraved and silvered plate. Fitted neatly into the base is a skeletonized barometer with a polychrome hand-painted porcelain dial. And finally, this wonderful timepiece bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
