German Boulle Form Miniature Bracket Clock
This delightful German Boulle form miniature bracket clock dates to 1875 and exhibits the elaborate decorative elements of the Rococo and Louis XIV styles. The dramatic Boulle form was made famous by Andre-Charles Boulle in the 1700’s during the reign of Louis XIV while residing in the royal clockmaker’s lodging.
This wonderful timepiece was expertly crafted in a rich mahogany that rather resembles the tortoise cases of Boulle. The case is adorned throughout with lavish gilt bronze ormolu of scrolling foliates that accentuate the sumptuous form, along with neoclassical faces and an urn finial atop. Elegantly presented upon a conforming pedestal with turned brass feet.
Keeping the time within this dramatic timepiece is an 8-day time-only movement, while the time displays on a dial of cream porcelain with stylized Arabic numerals and spade hands. And finally, this expressive timepiece bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
