German Bracket Clock for the English Market by Winterhalder & Hofmeier

This very impressive bracket clock was expertly crafted by premier clockmakers Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Germany. Located in Germany’s famous Black Forest region, Winterhalder & Hofmeier is hailed as one of the finest clockmakers of the Victorian era. This magnificent example is crafted in an oak case with mesmerizing carvings throughout of florals, foliage, and mythical faces and figures.

Residing beneath the arched and beveled glass door, the dial is beautifully appointed. A silvered and engraved chapter ring with Roman numerals displays the time with blued steel trident style hands. Three subsidiary dials display strike and silent, rate adjustment, and gong chiming options. All are surrounded with floral and foliate gilt cast spandrels.

Keeping the time within is an 8-day 3-train movement marking the quarter-hours with a gong strike and playing 2 tunes on a nest of 8 tuned gongs. The movement bears the stamped W&H trademark. And finally, this splendid clock has been fully restored and carries a one-year warranty.
