Japanese Meiji Period Bronze Vase
This impressive high-grade bronze urn form vase dates to the Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912). An exhibit of expert artistry with a beautiful patinated finish and a commanding presence at 21 inches in height. Raised on a round pedestal base with a wide low body continuing to a tapered neck and slightly flared rim. Two open-mouthed dragons wind their way around the vase; one descends from the top while the other, more dramatically and in greater detail, prowls around the body of the vase. The wingless Japanese dragon is regarded as a benevolent and protective creature. Possibly by Suzuki Masayoshi.
