Louis XV Style Bureau De Dame with Clock
This wonderful and whimsical Louis XV-style Bureau de Dame is a beautiful example of French furniture-making from the late 19th century.
This desk features a serpentine frame elegantly curved and adorned with subtle gilt bronze ormolu detailing at the corners. Fine parquetry inlay work throughout creates beautiful dimension and depth across the desk’s surface in a seamlessly executed geometric pattern. The desk’s compartments on either side of the risers feature tooled leather doors cleverly fashioned to look like a row of bound books, adding a whimsical touch to the desk while providing practical storage compartments.
Sitting atop the desk’s riser is an 8-day bell-striking clock with a porcelain dial. The clock features elegant Roman numerals and intricate hand-painted flowers with intricate filigree hands to display the time. Perfectly serving as decorative and functional, the clock will strike the time on a tuned bell every hour and half-hour.
The Louis XV style is characterized by its curved lines, ornate decoration, and luxury. This incredible desk is no exception and serves as a beautiful work of art and a functional piece of furniture.
The clock features a complete restoration and carries a one-year warranty.
