Marc Chagall Original Lithograph, Mourlot Freres
A wonderful original lithograph by Marc Chagall by Mourlot Freres Press of France. This lithograph would have been executed at L’Atelier Mourlot whereby Chagall painted the work directly onto a stone for the process. He was known to have worked closely for many years with printer Charles Sorlier at Mourlot until the time of his death. Marc Chagall (Belorussian-born French, 1887-1985) is esteemed as one of the greatest artistic masters of European Modernism. He was a prolific surrealist artist of paintings, lithogography, and even stained glass. This piece is a characteristic mingling of his conscious and unconscious, vibrant with beautiful play and range of colors enabled by the lithograph process. Unsigned.
