Oil on Canvas Landscape with Sheep and Cottage by W. H. Rupprecht

This charming rural scene was painted by Wilhelm Hugo Rupprecht (German 1881-1970). Depicting a quaint country cottage nestled among trees and a small flock of sheep grazing in the yard close by while their owner watches over them. Sunlight filters through the trees and the steeple of the local church is spotted in the background against a partly cloudy sky in this peaceful wooded landscape. Adeptly executed in oil on canvas with varying brush strokes for soft light and dimension; signed lower left. Presented in a complementary giltwood frame with subtle carvings.
