Regina 20-3/4″ Disc Automatic Changer Style 37

This incredible automatic changer music box by the Regina Music Box Company is the ultimate in early 20th-century home entertainment.

Resting within a resplendent Honduran mahogany case, this music box exudes grandeur. The machine features an uncommonly large 20-3/4” musical movement backed with an impressive piano soundboard, producing a rich and powerful tone. With the flip of a switch, a disc raises to the mechanism, plays, and lowers again, automatically changing to the next of 12 discs in sequence or playing on repeat for as long the machine stays wound. The operation is beautifully on display behind an elegant bow-front glass door framed with fretwork adornments in the arch. Barley twist columns adorn the cabinet on either side, with the original carved crown sitting regally atop the machine.

The Regina Music Box Company of Rahway, New Jersey, held international prestige from the 1880s to the advent of the phonograph in the early 20th century. The company quickly gained tremendous popularity, producing some of the era’s most beautifully crafted and finest-sounding machines. Automatic changers were among Regina’s most impressive offerings. However, a limited market could afford music boxes of this caliber due to their incredibly high cost. Few automatic disc changers were ever produced, with most being made to the smaller 15-1/2” design. To find an automatic changer produced to Regina’s larger 20-3/4” movement is truly a remarkable acquisition.

This astounding automatic changer bears a complete restoration and carries a one-year warranty.
