Rolex Daytona Reference 16518 with Zenith Movement in 18K Gold (1991)
Capturing race car drivers, racing fans, and watch fanatics since the 1960s, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is an icon in the world of watchmaking and motorsports. Stylish yet entirely functional, this reference 16518 dates to 1991 and survives in excellent condition.
The watch is housed within a luxurious 18K yellow gold case that survives with an unpolished finish and a hand-engraved personal presentation on the back.
In eye-catching contrast, a bright white dial displays the time, protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The dial features 18K yellow gold Arabic hour markers with Tritium hands and index markers at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. Three subsidiary dials neatly measure elapsed time. The seconds hand rests at the 6 o’clock position, the 30-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position, and the 12-hour counter at the 9 o’clock position.
The Daytona’s trademark tachymeter bezel encircles the dial, allowing the wearer to measure average speeds per hour while traveling a set distance. Each function allows the wearer to keep track of the time elapsed with the utmost efficiency and precision.
Completing the watch is a factory Rolex brown leather strap with an 18K yellow gold deployment clasp with monogram engraving.
A Zenith “El Primero” automatic chronograph movement powers this incredible timepiece, which carries an 18-month warranty.
