Swiss Sterling 8-Day Travel Clock by Shreve Crump & Low
This luxurious travel clock evokes a less harried and gracious era, perhaps accompanying its privileged owner on extended travel by rail or ocean liner. It is a beautiful presentation in sterling silver taking on Art Nouveau influences with deep relief engravings of florals and vines, as well as a conforming script monogram. Dating to 1900, this fine travel clock is by the prestigious luxury retailer Shreve Crump & Low of Boston, Massachusetts.
Within, the Swiss mechanics are of equally impressive quality. Powering the timepiece is an 8-day mechanical movement with quarter-hour striking at will. The time displays on a wonderfully dimensional silvered and engraved dial with bold Arabic numerals, luminous cathedral hands and hour markers, and a guilloché center. There is also an engraved presentation indicating that it was gifted to the original owner, a gentleman of stature from the Worcester, Massachusetts area. And finally, this fabulous timepiece bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
