Ulysse Nardin Pulsation Wrist Watch
Famed for their groundbreaking contribution to marine navigation, famed Swiss manufacture Ulysse Nardin holds a historical tradition of precision watchmaking.
Dating to the 1940s, this timepiece is both beautifully designed and cleverly functional. Resting in a sleek stainless steel case, a 17 jewel manual wind movement powers this watch and features an innovative pulsation chronograph. The dial indicates the time on black Arabic numerals with the pulsometer scale visible on the dial perimeter in red. Popular with doctors of the era, this pulsation feature aids in calculating a heart rate without multiplication.
Usually calibrated to either 15 or 30 heartbeats or “pulsations,” the pulsation feature is triggered by the use of the chronograph. The user starts the chronograph and then counts the patient’s heartbeats to the predetermined number. Once that number is reached, the position of the seconds hand at the outer pulsometer scale indicates the pre-calculated heart rate. A beautiful testament to both watchmaking and medical history.
This wonderful watch bears a complete restoration and an 18-month warranty.
The case measures 44mm in diameter, and 54m lug to lug.
